Salon Services During Pregnancy: What To Tell Us Before You Book

A guide to comfort and logistics. Ask your doctor or midwife what they are comfortable with, then tell your technician you are pregnant when you book, and the appointment gets planned around you.

    The Short Answer

This is a comfort and logistics post, not a medical one. We are a salon, so questions about what is okay during pregnancy belong with your doctor or midwife. Ask them what they are comfortable with, bring that answer to us, and tell your technician you are pregnant when you book. From there the appointment gets planned around you, including how you are positioned and how long you sit. Spa pedicures start at $40, and that is the one worth booking once reaching your own feet stops being easy.

You are pregnant, there is an appointment on your calendar, and now you are not sure what to do with it. We are a nail and beauty salon in South Jordan. Nobody here is a medical provider, so the list of what to keep and what to cancel comes from your doctor or midwife. Our part starts after that. Here is how an appointment gets planned around a pregnant guest, and what we need to hear from you to do it well.

    Who Answers What

Salon staff are not medical providers. Every version of "is this okay for me" belongs with your doctor or midwife. They know your history and your pregnancy. We do not.

So here is the honest arrangement. Ask your provider what they are comfortable with. Bring that answer to us. If they told you to skip something, we skip it, no discussion and no questions about why. If they said a service is fine, we book it and set it up for your comfort. Your provider is looking at you. That answer is the one we work from.

Ask your provider what they are comfortable with, then let us build the appointment around that answer.

    Tell Us When You Book

Say it early. Mention it when you book, and mention it again when you sit down. Knowing changes how we set up the chair and how we order things when you have booked more than one service. It also means your technician can keep checking in with you as the appointment goes.

If you would rather not announce it in a room with other people in it, call ahead at (801) 909-8989 and ask for a note on the appointment. A quiet heads up does the job. Nobody needs to make an event of it.

    Comfort In The Chair

This is the part we can genuinely help with. Lying flat or staying on your back through a longer service gets uncomfortable as pregnancy goes on, and that discomfort has a way of arriving sooner than anyone expects. We can adjust the recline, prop you up, and shorten or split an appointment if sitting still for all of it is too much. Ask for what you need and we will change the setup. Twice, if that is what it takes.

The same goes for breaks. If you need to get up partway through, tell your technician and we will find a stopping point. That is a normal request and it does not throw the appointment off.

    The Pedicure Question

Here is the practical one. Reaching your own feet gets hard. Somewhere in the back half of a pregnancy, bending forward to trim and file your toenails goes from mildly annoying to genuinely not happening, and a pedicure becomes maintenance. You also sit upright for one, which is worth knowing when reclining has lost its appeal.

Spa pedicures are $40, $50, $65 and $85 depending on which one you choose, and no chip gel polish is an extra $15 on any of them. The tiers differ in what is included, and we broke all four of them down in a separate post on which pedicure to book. Manicures run $25, $35 and $45 if you want to start with your hands.

    Planning A Longer Visit

Some people want one thing done. Others want everything handled in a single trip out of the house, which becomes more appealing the harder that trip is to arrange. Brow waxing is $15 and brow lamination is $50. A lash lift is $55. A classic lash set is $99, and facials start at $85 for the Bliss and Bubble European.

If you want more than one service in one visit, tell us when you book. We will order them in a way that makes sense and keep the whole thing from stretching longer than it needs to. We wrote more about combining services in one stop at a South Jordan salon, and it holds double when getting out the door is already a project.

One more thing on timing. If you need to know how long a service takes so you can plan the rest of your day, call and ask. We will give you a real answer for the exact service you booked.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to get my nails done while I am pregnant?

That is a question for your doctor or midwife. We are not a medical source and we will not answer it either way. Ask your provider, tell us what they said, and we will work with that.

What should I tell you when I book?

Tell us you are pregnant, and tell us anything your provider asked you to avoid. You do not owe us an explanation beyond that. We ask so the appointment can be planned around your comfort.

Can I still book a facial?

Whether a specific treatment is appropriate for you is your provider's call. A facial is done reclining, which is worth thinking about depending on how far along you are. Facials start at $85 for the Bliss and Bubble European. If reclining is the sticking point, say so and we will adjust the position.

Lash appointments mean lying on my back. Can you work around that?

We can adjust how you are positioned and shorten or split the appointment. Classic lashes are $99, hybrid $119 and volume $139. A lash lift is $55 if you would rather work with the lashes you have. Tell your technician what is comfortable before we start.

Will you turn me away for being pregnant?

No. We ask you to tell us so we can plan the appointment properly. If your provider has told you to skip a particular service, we will skip that service and book something else instead.

How long should I set aside for my appointment?

Call (801) 909-8989 and ask about the exact service you want. We can tell you what to set aside for that booking so you can plan the rest of your day.
